Mughal Portrait of a courtier Early 17th
Portrait of a courtier holding a rosary and a staff, Mughal, early 17th century. Gouache with gold on paper, extended at upper and left edges, laid down on an album page with borders of floral and foliate scrolls in colors, and gold on pink and blue grounds, outer border of stout cream paper. Framed miniature 15.4 by 9.2 cm.
Mughal Fighting Elephant Fragment
Lahore India, circa 1630 (+ or – 15 years). Researchers have attributed this carpet fragment from about 1580 on the basis of the Fighting Elephants Fresco in Fatehpur Sikri. Others have suggested later dates, including as late as the eighteenth century.

Warp: cotton, ivory, Z6S, alternates moderately depressed
Weft: cotton, light beige, Z4, 3 shoots (lazy lines)
Knots: wool, Z2 , Asymmetrical open to the left, 15 h by I4 v ( 210 per square inch)
With comparison to “Portrait of Jadun Ray Deccanni” and “Prince Selim as a Young Man” as seen below.
Also comparable to “Fighting Elephant Fresco Fatehpur Sikri” and “Fighting Elephants Picture Wall Lahore Fort.” This panel in the picture wall of the Lahore Fort dates to circa 1632. Please note the similarities in the harness and trappings.

Mughal or Deccan, late 17th century. Ink drawing heightened with gouache and gold, margins ruled in green and gold, stout buff paper borders, identified in Persian in brown ink in upper border. 19.6 by 13.5 cm.
A Mughal Princess With Handmaiden
A princess seated on a terrace is brought refreshment by her handmaiden. Mughal, late 17th century gouache with gold on paper, laid down on an album page with inner border of pink paper and outer border of stout cream paper flecked with gold. Miniature 16.8 by 10.8 cm. Page 33.3 by 26.7 cm.
