“Majnum Comes Before Layla Disguised As A Sheep” from the Haft Awrang of Jami made for Soltan Ibrahim Mirza, 1556 to 1565. Simpson Haft Awrang Page 204 Folio 264A.
I attribute this to the Persian Artist Ali Ashgar father of Aqa Reza.
The key to identifying the work of Ali Ashgar seems to be in the faces. Please note the lips. He draws the faces with a beauty and a sensitivity that his peers can not match. We can explore that in more depth but needless to say that his affinity for young boys cost him his nose and ears.
