Persian Resht Textiles

Rasht Iran or as we call it Resht is the administrative center of Gilan Province in Iran. It is a major city of more than 2 million people on the southern shore of the Caspian Sea.While not a major center of carpet weaving Rasht is known for embroidered piecework textiles. Typically we see covers, horse covers, wall trappings and tents.

Resht draws heavily on chain stitch embroidery and patchwork. These are usually wool or wool and silk.
