Sannah or Gerus Bijar Runner
Kurdish Bidjar from the Sennah area. Bijar or more propperly Cesme Bigar is a market center and collection point for a whole range of rugs with similar attributes. In the carpet trade these are called Gerus Bidjar or Sannahs.
This one is Bidjar from Sanandag area in Kordestan Iran. It is handmade and in excellent condition.
Size: 1 foot 8 inch by 7 foot 8 inch.
Structure: Asymmetrical knot open to the left. 11 knots per horizontal inch and 13 per vertical inch. 143 per square inch (2216.5 per square decimeter)
Color: Salmon, crème, red, onyx, grass green, sea foam green, copper, sky blue, burgundy, royal blue.
Yarn Spin: Z.
Warp: 3 ply white cotton.
Weft: 2 shot blue cotton.
Pile: 2 wool singles.
Ends: Post-hitch knot bindings with 1 inch warp fringe.
Selvages: Single cord plain peach wool.
Handle: Medium-heavy, soft wool, dense, durable

Structure: Symmetrical knot. 13 knots per horizontal inch and 13 knots per vertical inch. 169 per square inch (2620 per square decimeter)
Yarn Spin: Z.
Warp: cotton.
Weft: 2 ply cotton.
Pile: 2 Wool singles.
Ends: Warp fringe.
Selvages: overcast with red wool.
Further Notes: Thick substantial handle. Long pile (7/16 inch deep).
