This rug is an older Vist with very good color. Vist is a production center in the south of the Sarouk area. Carpets from Vist are usually a either a Herati pattern or they are a rather formal geometric as this one is.

Long ago the Sarouk production area was in a province called Arak. Arak was spilt up but in rug books they like to use the old terms. You will also see this mentioned as a Viss. Oriental Carpet Design by P.R.J. Ford is a great source on the Vist Sarouk.
